Cowes Bus Service

Commuters wanting to use the new bus services running between Cowes and Wonthaggi are reminded to ring Phillip Island Bus Lines on 5952 2500 to organise a pick up.

By Bass Coast Shire Council - 16th October 2006 - Back to News

The Cowes Bus Service is classified as a ‘demand responsive service’. This means that while the buses do run to a scheduled timetable, passengers wanting to travel should ring the service. When you call to book the bus, you can organise an agreed pick up point. This is a user-friendly service, especially for older commuters, as they can be picked up close to their homes, rather than having to walk to a bus stop. The schedule times for the bus route allow for the bus being able to collect passengers from pre-arranged pick up points. Timetables are available from Council’s Customer Service Centres and website (www.basscoast.vic.gov.au).

Close consultation between Bass Coast Transport Connections and the Department of Infrastructure, has ensured there was local community input in developing the service. Similar ‘responsive services’ operate in other councils, with an excellent response from the community.
