nightfall observation session. The session is planned to coincide with the exhibition Sky Lab curated by Felicity Spear.

Latrobe City Council’s arts director, Julie Adams, said that the event would be a wonderful opportunity to learn about the night sky and the artworks in the exhibition.

"The artists represented in Sky Lab direct their gaze beyond our planet to create speculative works about our relationships to outer space. Using different media the artists, including Daniel Armstrong, Govinda Sah Azad (Nepal), Magda Cebokli, Lesley Duxbury, Sam Leach, Harry Nankin, Felicity Spear, Vanessa Stanley, Tarja Trygg (Finland), take us on an out-of-this-world experience.

"In response to this exhibition the Latrobe Valley Astronomical Society will provide an overview of lunar and planetary activity as well as an introduction to astronomy and the local night sky. Participants will be able to observe planets and stars in our area with opportunities to stargaze with telescopes after nightfall," Ms Adams said.

"The event is free and promises to provide a visual and sensory feast for the imagination. Children are more than welcome," Ms Adams concluded.

The event will be held on Wednesday 16 October from 5pm to 8pm. The Latrobe Valley Astronomical Society will be presenting their introduction from 7pm.
