Health Providers Speed Date

Eighty health and community service providers in Bass Coast met in Wonthaggi last week for a networking session with a difference.

By Bass Coast - 16th March 2011 - Back to News

Bass Coast Shire Council’s, Community Strengthening Manager, Antoinette Mitchell, said the meeting used quick-fire networking like ‘speed-dating’ so providers could meet everyone in the room and learn about their services.

"Often at networking sessions there is simply not enough time to meet everyone," said Ms Mitchell.

"These health and community service providers are often working with the same people and referring them on for other services.

"It is important that they know not only other services offer, but who works there and put a face to a name.

"We had some very positive feedback from participants who were representing more than 30 organisations.

"This will hopefully result in better outcomes for our community," continued Ms Mitchell.

The meeting was organised by the Department of Justice with Council and support from members of the Bass Coast Service Providers’ Network.

The session was opened by Cr Gareth Barlow and facilitated by the Department of Consumer Affairs.

Community service providers who are interested in attending the next Bass Coast Service Providers’ Network meeting can register interest with Jen Scott on 1300 BCOAST (226 278)
