Your Gallery is a wonderful way to spend a dayThe Latrobe Regional Gallery is again inviting everyone especially parents and their children to spend time and explore their own imagination and make art this upcoming school holidays. Learn more information about this event... By news@gippsland - 7th September 2016 - Back to News School holidays are looming and what better way to spend a day or two than discovering your own artistic talents? The Lane will be open for untutored art activities for the duration of the school holidays.
Latrobe City Council’s arts director, Dr Mark Themann, said that parents and their children could spend hours in the Gallery, just viewing the exhibits, being creative and generally enjoying the atmosphere of one of Victoria’s most engaging regional galleries.
"From Saturday 17 September to 2 October, The Lane will be open daily for children to explore their own imagination and make art. They may be inspired by the exhibitions currently on display, they may bring their own ideas to work on. However that creative flow happens, we encourage them to discover their own possibilities.
"And for something a little bit different these holidays, why not book an informal tour through the gallery? Tours can be tailored to suit your needs so if you have very young children or older teens we can cater to your group," Dr Themann said.
"Our Gallery is a great space for relaxing, for browsing, for learning and for socialising. It’s an alternative to a long trip to the city and it’s a perfect escape from a cool or rainy day. It’s brain-food and soul-nourishment for any age group and we’d love to see you and your family these holidays," Dr Themann concluded.
Activities in The Lane are free but an adult must be present with and responsible for the children. Guided tours are free but must be booked in advance. Call the Gallery on 5128 5700 to make a booking.
