‘The Sum Of Us’ At Latrobe Performing Arts Centre John Jarratt Latrobe Performing Arts in conjunction with HIT Productions presents ‘The Sum of Us’ by David Stevens, starring well-known Australian actor John Jarratt By Latrobe City - 1st June 2011 - Back to News , on Tuesday 7 June from 8pm at the Latrobe Performing Arts Centre.
‘The Sum of Us’ is a bitter sweet comedy about the powerful love between a father and a son. This award-winning play by Academy Award nominee and Australian playwright, David Stevens (Breaker Morant), also became an AFI Award winning film starring Jack Thompson and Russell Crowe.
Latrobe City’s performing arts and venues coordinator, Kathleen Roberts, said that the humorous but poignant storyline revolves around the devoted and loving relationship between a widower, his homosexual son and their individual searches for a partner.
"The search for love and the difficulties faced in accepting people for who they are is the universal theme of this play. Starring one of Australia’s top actors John Jarratt (Wolf Creek, McLeod’s Daughters, Better Homes and Gardens), Patrick Harvey, Glenn Van Oosterom and Nell Feeney, the play will touch your hearts," Ms Roberts said.
John Jarratt’s career has spanned all aspects of theatre, film and
television, making him one of Australia’s most well known
personalities. He is probably most recognised as playing Terry Dodge for six years in McLeod’s Daughters. John was also a writer and presenter for ‘Better Homes and Gardens’. Among John’s film credits is the highly acclaimed ‘Picnic at Hanging Rock’ and he re-established himself as one of Australia’s finest actors with his chilling performance as Mick Taylor in the feature film Wolf Creek. He will shortly be seen in the US thriller
‘Shiver’.
Patrick Harvey spent his childhood in both Northern Ireland
and Australia. Upon settling in Australia in his mid teens, Patrick started working on Australian television. His early credits include the highly successful children's series ‘The Saddle Club’ and ‘Blue Heelers’.
In 2001 Patrick landed the ongoing role of Connor O'Neill in ‘Neighbours’.
In 2003 he was honoured with a Logie for Most Popular New Male Talent.
Glenn Van Oosterom is a graduate of the National Theatre Drama School
and was the recipient of the Joan Harris/Jeff Warren Graduate Award. He has worked extensively in theatre. Glenn’s screen credits include the television series ‘Bed of Roses’, ‘Rush’, ‘Tanked’, ‘The Legend of Billy Sing’, ‘The Pacific’, and ‘Postcards’.
‘The Sum of Us’ by David Stevens will be performed at the Latrobe Performing Arts Centre in Traralgon on Tuesday 7 June. For bookings call the Box Office on 5176 3559. Latrobe Performing Arts Bar open from 7pm.
