Victorian Learning and Employment Skills Commission Achievement Award

Jill Wyers was presented with the Victorian Learning and Employment Skills Award

By Eimear McNelis - 4th June 2002 - Back to News

Jill Wyers was presented with the Victorian Learning and Employment Skills Award at the recent GippsTAFE Graduation Ceremony held in Morwell.

The Victorian Learning and Employment Skills Commission makes one award available to each TAFE Institute for either an Institute graduate or apprentice. The award is granted to a student who has demonstrated an outstanding level of performance.

Ms Wyers commenced a Diploma of Arts (Visual Arts) in 1999 as a hobby. During her studies her work and assignments were of an exceptionally high standard, earning her distinctions and credits in nearly every subject she undertook.

She was an intelligent contributor to class discussions with a passionate desire to learn and support other students in their ideas and aspirations.

Ms Wyers keenness, research ability and innovative ideas were an inspiration to her fellow students, producing a number of art works which developed from simple representative themes to quite complex subject matter.

This development is even more noteworthy when considering her hearing disability and other personal challenges that she encountered as a mature-aged student.

Ms Wyers is currently studying for her Bachelor of Visual Arts at Monash University Gippsland and continues to enjoy the positive benefits that learning and her passion for the visual arts have brought her.
