When life’s a circus, you need a ring master!Join Circus Oz for some clowning around at Tarwin Street Pop-Up Park. By news@gippsland - 4th May 2016 - Back to News Juggling too much in life? Join Circus Oz for some clowning around at Tarwin Street Pop-Up Park.
Latrobe City Council’s mayor Councillor Michael Rossiter said that the Council had worked with VicHealth and Circus Oz to bring the Circus Connect Come ‘n’ Try series to Latrobe City, Thursdays and Saturdays, in the first two weeks in May.
"The Circus Connect program is designed for people of any age or ability to be active and have fun. The program is about having a go and working together, rather than being competitive," Cr Rossiter said.
"The workshops have the added benefit of teaching participants some great life skills, like working together, building trust, celebrating each other’s successes and persevering to overcome challenges."
Annie Stephens, Community and Corporate Programs Coordinator of Circus Oz said that circus arts were a great way for all ages, genders, cultural distinctions and abilities to engage with one another in a fun, inclusive way.
"Circus-goers will take part in ice-breaker games, warm ups and then get down to learning some fun new skills, like juggling, plate spinning, human pyramids, handstands and hula hooping. The program will be flexible enough to suit different interests and abilities," Ms Stephens said.
"We’ve got after school and weekend sessions so everyone who wants to come ‘n’ try has the chance to run away with the circus for an hour or so."
