The Andrews Government has announced new long-term tenancy agreements will be developed, a year before a review of the Residential Tenancies Act will be finalised.
They have not detailed how property owners or tenants could terminate an agreement, what notice a tenant or landlord would have to give, or what safeguards would be in place to make sure that neither party could inadvertently sign up to pay for extra property expenses.

Labor’s long-term tenancy proposal was announced on the fly and without proper consultation with Victorians, a year before a review of the Residential Tenancies Act is due to be completed.
For too long Daniel Andrews has treated consultation as a cover for implementing his own agenda.
No tenant or property owner would sign up to a long-term lease scheme if they don’t know their rights.
After wasting $140,000 of taxpayer money to live by the beach, Labor is wasting more taxpayer money building a rental website that offers the same service as realestate.com.au or Domain.
Daniel Andrews is desperate to show he is doing something on housing affordability, but putting tenants at risk by failing to fully disclose what conditions they may have to live with for more than five years is just reckless.
