Still time to nominate for Australia Day AwardsThere is still time to nominate for the next annual Australia Day Awards, to be presented on 26 January 2004. By Wellington Shire Council - 26th November 2003 - Back to News Under the program, which is being coordinated locally by Wellington Shire Council and the National Australia Day Council, there are three awards up for grabs -
- Citizen of the Year
- Junior Citizen of the Year
- Community Event of the Year
In addition Wellington Shire Council will be presenting an award for Community Group of the Year – recognising the group that has made the most significant contribution to the Shire during 2003.
The closing date for entries is Friday 5 December. Nomination forms are available from all the Shire’s libraries and from the Sale, Maffra and Yarram service centres. Alternatively a form can be downloaded from the Council’s web site www.wellington.vic.gov.au

Said Wellington’s Mayor John Jago: "There are many truly outstanding people and groups within Wellington that have made an invaluable contribution to the Shire community in all sorts of different ways over the past year.
