Inverloch - Ideas Into Action

Inverloch Community Planning Group showed it was still going strong with approximately 40 people attending their recent workshop to update the community plan.

Inverloch Planning Group representative, Michelle Harris, said this was a fantastic turnout.

"There were people there who have been involved since the first workshop two years ago, but it was great to see some new faces as well," said Ms Harris.

"It’s great that people feel passionate about where they live, and are willing to contribute not just their ideas, but also their time and energy."

Following a celebratory cake to mark the achievements of the previous two years, the participants divided into four smaller groups to begin the business of reviewing and updating their plan.

These groups, led by representatives from the Inverloch Community Planning Group considered four key areas of interest - shared pathways, the foreshore, town identity and eco friendly Inverloch.

After some lively discussion the groups emerged with some great ideas which they will consider further.

These included streetscaping, particularly in the newer areas to reflect the village feel of the town, art in public places, community garden, green waste removal, accessible toilet facilities along the foreshore, doggie bags and bins, foreshore education program, drinking fountains near fitness stations and devising ways for involving younger people in the community planning process.

The next stage for the group is to determine which ideas have broad community support, and then work with the wider community and stakeholders to get things up and running.
