The display was yesterday visited by three of Wonthaggi Union Theatre’s original ‘Usherettes’.

The display has also been enjoyed by school children from Inverloch Primary, Wonthaggi Primary - Bilson St and Wonthaggi Secondary College, Dudley Campus.

It is a first for Bass Coast, with all six historical societys in the Shire combining their displays for one big show. The display also visited Cowes in February.

The Phillip Island and District Historical Society have recreated the original one stop shop, J & S West General Store.

The Bass Valley Historical Society have recreated a bedroom with antique clothing and underwear.

Friends of the State Coal Mine have a video of the history of the mines and photographs. The Inverloch Historical Society is also showing an excellent selection of old images and the books they have produced over the years.

The Wonthaggi and District Historical Society theme is the Wonthaggi Union Theatre, with displays of the various uses of the Theatre, including a daily oral presentation. The Wonthaggi Genealogy Society can also show you how to trace your family tree.

‘I remember when...’ will be on at the Wonthaggi Town Hall this weekend with a final visit to the Bass Hall from 7-9 April.

"If you enjoy slices of local history, this is a display not to be missed," said Bass Coast Shire Council Arts Officer, Josie Kent.
