Upgrading Drouin Primary School brick by brick Massive upgrade on the school to create accessible and great learning facility. By news@gippsland - 31st May 2021 - Back to News Drouin students will learn in first-rate classrooms, as the Andrews Labor Government continues to roll out the next phase of our school building boom. Member for Eastern Victoria Harriet Shing today announced Drouin Primary School will receive at least $22.097 million for an upgrade, as part of the Victorian Budget 2021/22.
Drouin students will learn in first-rate classrooms modernising the school, including replacing existing temporary facilities and adding an additional, spaces in permanent facilities, as well as providing a competition grade gymnasium
Modernising the school
The funding will upgrade and modernise the school, including replacing existing temporary facilities and adding an additional 225 spaces in permanent facilities, as well as providing a competition grade gymnasium The budget invests $1.6 billion to build new schools and improve existing schools – making sure our kids have the bright futures they deserve.
Construction to create more jobs
Not only will this investment ensure great local schools, it will also create more than 3,500 new jobs in construction and associated industries, including more than 2,900 jobs in metropolitan Melbourne and around 615 jobs in regional Victoria.
Access to a great school
In the past seven years, the Labor Government has invested more than $10.9 billion in building new schools, more than 1,700 school upgrades – creating around 13,500 jobs in construction and associated industries.
The Labor Government is building the Education State so that every Victorian gets the opportunity for a great education and every community has access to a great school.
Massive school upgrade
Member for Eastern Victoria Harriet Shing said, "This is a massive upgrade of the school that will deliver students the facilities they need and deserve. We know that great facilities alongside great teachers has a big impact on student outcomes. This is why we are upgrading schools, just like Drouin Primary School, right across the state."
"This is huge investment in a school that continues to see student numbers grow, and it’s been a privilege, to advocate with and on behalf of the school community, for the facilities they need and deserve."
Vibrant learning environment
Ms Shing said, "The students, staff and teachers at Drouin Primary have worked really hard to create an inclusive and vibrant learning environment, but we know that modern, accessible and fit-for-purpose facilities also have a direct and positive impact on student outcomes. This is why we are upgrading schools, just like Drouin Primary School, right across the state."
