Historical Photographic Retrospective At Gallery Until Sunday

To celebrate the completion of the Latrobe City 2008 Heritage Study, and the upcoming installation of signage at significant heritage sites at Boolarra, Moe, Morwell, Traralgon and Yallourn North

By Latrobe City Council - 14th May 2009 - Back to News

A historical photographs exhibition is currently being held in the Hazelwood International Power Public Access Gallery, Latrobe Regional Gallery, Morwell.

The photographs showcase historically significant sites through the display of photographs of buildings, churches, schools, parks and businesses that depict early 19th century life in the Latrobe Valley, and its development from early European beginnings to modern times.

The exhibition will also feature a selection of the region’s treasured historical domestic objects such as a butter churn, a kerosene tin oven; and a two-gallon ale measure with Edward VII weights and measures seal, from John Maher’s Railway Hotel in Boolarra.

The photographs and objects have been lovingly archived and preserved for the community by the historical societies of Boolarra, Moe, Morwell, Traralgon and Yallourn North.

The exhibition will be open until Sunday 17 May.
