Fresh Look For Foster Street As Centre Takes Shape

Wellington’s $6 million Entertainment Centre is on time, on target and within budget

Striking black concrete panels forming the walls of the stage and auditorium and a timber boardwalk being built along the front of the site have attracted increasing community interest as the development begins to take shape.

Wellington Shire Council’s Director of Assets & Operations, Leigh Harrison, said that work is progressing well and the Centre is due to be completed in late June next year.

"Landscaping along Foster Street is an integral part of the fresh ‘streetscape’ look for this development," he said.

"It will complement the bold and open front to the building with its large, bright windowed café/foyer and entry.

"The landscape works will include a new footpath with drop-off points along the kerb line for customers, as well as plantings along front of the site and a wide timber deck linking the boardwalk to the café."

The old street trees are being removed to make way for other advanced tree species that will better suit the fresh and airy appearance of the front of the Centre.

"The overall effect will be one of a community forecourt that will be open and inviting," he added.

At the far side of the development, meeting rooms will overlook the Port of Sale, providing a superb backdrop to a Centre that is destined to become a landmark attraction for Wellington Shire.
