Sale Sonics Juniors selected for the "Baketball Victoria Country Council" (B.V.C.C.) Golden Nugget CampOver 650 13 & under basketballers attended "skill days" for the B.V.C.C. Golden Nugget Basketball Camp selection. 7 Sale Sonics players excelled and have been named and selected to attend the camp. A great effort! By KAREN CASHMAN - 7th October 2004 - Back to News The Basketball Victoria Country Council 13 & under Gold Nugget Basketball Camp will be held in the Bendigo Schweppes Centre on the weekend of Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th October, 2004.
This camp marks the end of the 13 & under Basketball Academy Season. To be selected for the Gold Nugget camp, players had to attend the 13 & under "skill days", which were held in February 2004. The skill days attracted over 650 players and were held at 8 centres throughout the regional areas of Victoria. Players also had to attend 2 "live in" camps, plus make a full commitment to all Academy organised training sessions.
355 players were inducted into the 2004 13 & under Basketball Academy.
From each of the 8 Academies, 8 male & 8 female players are selected to attend the Golden Nugget camp, hence there will be 64 boys and 64 girls in attendance.
From these players, 40 "bottom age" players (born in 1992) - 20 boys and 20 girls will be selected to attend the Australian Country Junior Basketball Cup in Albury/Wodonga, while 40 "top age" (born 1991) - 20 boys and 20 girls, will be selected to attend the Pacific Coast Slam in Port Macquarie.
The Golden Nugget Camp will involve approximately 128 players, 32 Coaches, 6 managers, 20 Referees, 6 Referee Coaches and 12 Administration Staff.
