Traralgon Library Co-ordinator, Claire Wood, said that the session is aimed at helping local families to fill in the missing links in the family tree by focusing on the use of local history resources available at the library.

"The session is for those family historians, who want to know more about their ancestors than simple dates. It may be that they have some names or dates of births, marriages and deaths, but with the diverse range of resources available here at the library, a fuller and more complete history can be collated," Ms Wood said.

"We have a whole range of resources that can be useful including town histories, newspapers, indexes, maps, directories, photographs, as well as access to the internet. Staff will be on hand to ensure that people receive help when accessing the information," Ms Wood explained.

Ms Wood said that people could also check out the local history resources in the Library, or take advantage of the Traralgon and District Historical Society’s monthly open day scheduled for the same date.

"We know there are many people who are interested in either completing or starting a family tree and we hope that the information we can provide at this session will be of use," Ms Wood concluded.
