Loch Wonthaggi Road Works

Bass Coast Shire Council is completing road renewal works on a two kilometre stretch of Loch Wonthaggi Road between Sheepways Road and Bakers Road.

By Bass Coast - 14th April 2011 - Back to News

Council’s Acting Infrastructure Director, Felicity Sist, said rural road users often asked Council to make road improvements.

"These works are extremely important to users of this road," Ms Sist said.

"Renewal works are done when a road has reached the end of its lifespan. Spending money on renewing roads will save maintenance costs in the future.

"This project is funded by the Federal Government under its Nation Building Roads to Recovery program, which helps councils make improvements and renew rural roads," Ms Sist continued.

Improvements will be made to drainage, sight distances, line marking, sealing and road width.

"Works started in February and we expect to have them finished this month, depending on weather," Ms Sist said.

"We are trying to keep disruption to road users to a minimum.

"I’d like to remind drivers to follow all signs and instructions from traffic controllers during the course of the works."
