Monster Trucks To Roll Into MorwellLatrobe City Sports and Entertainment Centre will host the Monster Trucks Revenge spectacular on Saturday 4 February, By Latrobe City - 30th January 2012 - Back to News one of a diverse range of events hosted at the stadium since Latrobe City Council acquired the lease to the venue.
Latrobe City’s general manager recreation, culture and community infrastructure, Grantley Switzer, said that the monster truck event would be a family favourite incorporating a carnival and fireworks display.
"There will be lots of action in the arena with five monster trucks, including Extreme, Raptor’s Rampage, Sampson, Devil’s Taxi and Tropical Thunder. The vehicles will be in full blown racing and freestyle session competition and there will be a jet car, tank carnage, wheelie jeep, freestyle MX and the exciting, record-breaking monster truck wheelie attempt.
"Freestyle MX rider, Cam Sinclair, will make a guest appearance and a giant fireworks show will light up the sky at the end of the night," Mr Switzer said.
Latrobe City mayor, Councillor Ed Vermeulen, said that the attraction of these major events to the stadium demonstrates what an asset the facility is to the local community.
"Since Council acquired the lease for the stadium in 2010 there has been a wide variety of events held at there. The attraction of the monster truck event proves just how versatile the venue is. This weekend is monster trucks then the following weekend there will be a state-wide soccer championships," Cr Vermeulen said.
Ward Councillor, Graeme Middlemiss, said that Council was working hard with event promoters and sporting organisations to bring such events to Latrobe City.
"It is important that the local community gets behind this push to ensure that these events are sustainable and that they continue to return," Cr Middlemiss concluded.
Gates for the Monster Trucks Revenge open at 12 noon with carnival rides; the show starts at 6.30pm, ending at around 9.30pm.
