Business Celebrates At Gala Awards Night Business Gala Awards The Bass Coast business community came together and celebrated excellence in business on Friday, 8 July 2011. By Bass Coast - 15th July 2011 - Back to News Over 120 people attended the 2011 SuperPages Bass Coast Business Awards presentation at The Wonthaggi Workmen’s Club.
Bass Coast Shire Council’s Acting Chief Executive Officer, Steven Piasente, said the evening was a great opportunity to recognise the hard work and innovation of local businesses.
"The Business Awards are a way to acknowledge the importance of our local businesses to the Shire," said Mr Piasente. "I want to congratulate all the winners. This is recognition of the fantastic service they provide to our residents and visitors. In addition, the Award night itself is a great opportunity for business owners to get together and to network, which is not something they might normally have a chance to do."
Mr Piasente said the growing popularity of the awards reflected the strength of the local business community.
"Our vision is that the Awards will assist in raising the benchmark for businesses, as well as giving them a boost by providing a great promotional opportunity," explained Mr Piasente.
"We know from past awards that there is also a real economic benefit to businesses who get involved."
Mr Piasente thanked the sponsors who supported this year’s Awards: SuperPages, VECCI, Westernport Water, South Gippsland Sentinel Times, Rural Access, San Remo and Cowes Bendigo Community Bank.
"I would also like to acknowledge the work our Economic Development team did putting these awards together," said Mr Piasente. "The Business Awards really are the most visible demonstration of the work the team does to support, promote and create opportunities for local businesses."
