Northe Applauds Teachers In Latrobe Valley

In the lead up to this year’s World Teachers’ Day, Nationals Member for Morwell Russell Northe has come out in support of our region’s teachers.

"I am in contact with the schools in my electorate on a regular basis and I am always impressed by the energy and commitment of the staff in those schools," Mr Northe said.

"In 2008 and 2009 I had the opportunity to participate in the Principal for a Day program at Morwell Park Primary School, and Churchill North Primary School. This was a program which allows MP’s and business people to better understand issues involved in educating our children.

"After spending a day with the principals and their staff it was clear that our dedicated teaching staff have a strong commitment to helping students achieve to their maximum potential.

Mr Northe recognised that the demands of today’s society require children to be prepared to contribute in a rapidly changing world.

"To meet these demands we require a special kind of teacher who can provide a unique learning environment which will bring out the best in our children.

"It is encouraging to see schools and teaching staff prepared to offer their students different learning opportunities and programs to cater to their abilities and needs.

Mr Northe said that World Teachers’ Day on Friday 29 October is an opportunity for everyone to acknowledge the professionalism of our teachers in rural Victoria.

"Teachers ‘make a difference’ every day and, in doing so they make an extremely significant, but often unrecognised contribution to their local and wider community.

"I encourage everyone to regularly acknowledge those special people with whom we entrust our children and particularly to take the time to do so this World Teachers’ Day."
