The Latrobe City Youth Band will feature in a charity concert for the new Gippsland Cancer Care Centre, commencing at 7.30pm on Saturday 1 July at Kernot Hall.

The charity concert aims to further develop awareness of the new cancer care centre within our community, and also to raise funds for this vital new facility.

Providing supporting performances on stage as part of the evening’s entertainment will be the Stockdale Primary School Band, the Francis Orchestra and the Lavalla Jazz Band.

Latrobe City mayor, Cr Lisa Price, said the concert will provide a feast of music for the audience to enjoy. "People who have attended previous performances of our Youth Band and the supporting bands have always been amazed at the talent these young people display.

"The Latrobe City Youth Band has been enthusiastic about organising a charity concert for the community for some time. "Now their wish is coming true," Cr Price said.

"We are also really delighted to see other bands coming on board the concert to raise money for this good cause.

"I know the young performers are really excited at the opportunity to once again demonstrate their commitment to music and display their ability and skills to the wider community."

Cr Price said the Youth Band is looking forward to returning a favour to the community, as the community has been generous and encouraging towards the youth band over the past years. "We hope many people will come along to Kernot Hall to enjoy their performance, and at the same time, help to contribute to the new cancer care facility," Cr Price added.

The Youth Band has been rehearsing fortnightly at Lowanna College and more recently in preparation for the fund raising concert. Lowanna has been an enormous supporter of the Youth Band, hosting the young musicians in the college auditorium since the band’s inception in 2002.

Tickets for the charity concert are available at the Latrobe Performing Arts Box Office in Grey Street Traralgon, telephone 5176 3559. Entry is adults $10, concession $5, family $25. Tickets will also be on sale at Kernot Hall on the night.
