The product type is labelled ‘Boneless Champagne Leg Ham Portions’ manufactured by Darling Downs Bacon, Queensland.
The product has been distributed nationally to most major retail chains.
Latrobe City Council Health Services Leader, Andrew Mackintosh, said the product has been distributed in vacuum packed plastic bags at random weights between 1.25kg and 1.75kg. Consumers are requested to contact 1800 554 609 and Sales representatives will collect recalled product direct from consumers and provide refunds.
"The product has been recalled due to the possibility of Listeria monocytogenes contamination which can cause anything from fever, headaches, nausea and vomiting, to meningitis and miscarriage. Unlike most other food-poisoning bacteria, it can grow at refrigeration temperatures, making it a real concern," Mr Mackintosh said.
