The Cat Is Back!

New facilitator and community sausage sizzle

It’s all systems go for the 3925 Community Building Project and the Community Action Team (CAT) with the recent appointment of a new community facilitator, Jillian Kelly.

"It’s a very exciting project to be involved in and I’m really looking forward to meeting the 3925 community of San Remo, Newhaven and Cape Woolamai," said Jillian.

Jillian will have the opportunity to meet many residents at a community sausage sizzle on Saturday 23 November from 10am to 12 noon at Cleeland Bight, Cottesloe Avenue, Cape Woolamai. Everyone is invited to the sausage sizzle. The event will also be an opportunity for people to view displays for a proposed community rotunda and provide feedback.

The construction of a community rotunda and picnic facilities was proposed as a much needed project during a community opportunity workshop held last year. The workshop identified that Cape Woolamai needed a community meeting facility.

"We would like everyone to come along, enjoy the sausage sizzle and have a chat about the proposed plans," said Jillian. "Take the opportunity to enjoy an informal morning with your neighbours.

A number of other projects are already currently underway, including the Community Friendship Garden in Newhaven and the development of a low maintenance park at the Ports and Harbour site. A community noticeboard was also erected in Cape Woolamai as part of the original ‘Partners in Community Building Gippsland Program’.

Jillian said that she is very passionate about community building.

"I believe it is up to each of us to make a difference, and I’m delighted to be involved in this project," said Jillian.

A significant amount of Jillian’s time will be spent in the community of 3925.
