Wellington to play significant role in National Local Government Online Conference

By Karen Gregory - 18th June 2002 - Back to News

The Shire of Wellington will play a significant role in the National Local Government Online Conference to be held in Melbourne later this year.

The Conference, which is being organised by the Municipal Association of Victoria, will feature initiatives taken by councils across Australia to promote and service their communities through the use of information technology.

Three months ago Wellington Shire Council became one of the first local government authorities to webcast Council meetings on the Internet.

Corporate Services Director Brendan O’Loughlin will demonstrate the Council’s Webcast Service at the conference, at the Victorian Arts Centre in September.

The Webcast Service will be officially launched by National Party Leader Peter Hall, MP, Member for Gippsland South, at Council’s next meeting, Tuesday 18 June at 6pm.

Full details of how to view the launch and the webcast are available on Council’s website at www.wellington.vic.gov.au.
