Official opening of the Morwell Recreation Reserve synthetic oval – 28 February, 2020 – 4pm
Morwell Recreation Reserve Synthetic Oval officially opens on February 28, 2020.
Latrobe City Council is pleased to invite you to the official opening of the new synthetic football oval at the Morwell Recreation Reserve.
The opening will be staged prior to the Hawthorn vs St Kilda AFL practice match and bushfire recovery fundraiser at the ground, commencing at 4.30pm.
Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester, Member for Eastern Victoria Harriet Shing and Latrobe City Mayor Dan Clancey will launch the new facility alongside a host of community groups, sporting clubs and prospective user groups.
The synthetic oval was funded by $1.2 million from the Federal Government’s Community Development Grants Programme and $2.3 million from the Victorian Government’s $85 million Latrobe Valley Sports and Community Initiative administered by Latrobe Valley Authority and delivered by Latrobe City Council.
It comes as part of a broader $9 million redevelopment of the Morwell Recreation Reserve and Keegan Street Reserve precinct co-funded by the Victorian and Australian governments.
