Southern Rural Water announces safer bridge boosting Clydebank access and safety with modern standards by NovemberClydebank Crofts Road bridge will be rebuilt to modern safety standards from September, with Jarvis Norwood Constructions appointed. By news@gippsland - 11th July 2025 - Back to News Clydebank residents will soon be able to access a brand-new bridge along Crofts Road that meets modern standards, with construction to commence in September. Southern Rural Water has announced civil construction company Jarvis Norwood Constructions as the successful contractor to complete the design and construction works. The bridge is located just north of Sale and acts as an overpass for the Lake Wellington storm water drainage channel. 
Jarvis Norwood Constructions will rebuild Clydebank Crofts Road bridge near Sale, replacing old abutments, with completion expected by mid-November Stronger safer bridgeThe new structure will be a like-for-like replacement of the ageing bridge, and involves the removal of the existing abutments and forming of new foundations near the channel. The works are expected to take between eight to 10 weeks to complete, with an anticipated opening date of mid-November. General Manager Asset Futures Scott Cornish said the project will be a welcome enhancement for the community and the bridge's regular users. "The replacement bridge will ensure commuters can access a bridge over our channel that meets modern safety standards. The bridge will be stronger, wider and with better guard-railing for traffic. The bridge itself forms part of a popular local route for the community, so it will be fantastic to see this in use again." As works will be contained at the current site, and within the easement of the storm water channel, there will be minimal disruption to neighbouring properties. The bridge on Crofts Road will remain closed until the completion of the works, with traffic diversion in place. However, local traffic will continue to have access in and out of the area.
