Speed Reduced In Almurta

Bass Coast Shire Council has temporarily reduced the speed limit at the Bass River Bridge on Grantville Glen Alvie Road to 40 km per hour.

By Bass Coast - 28th April 2011 - Back to News

Council’s Acting Infrastructure Director, Felicity Sist, said routine inspections of the bridge last year showed excessive wear.

"We’ve reduced the speed on the bridge to safeguard the structure," said Ms Sist.

"We are currently designing some improvements to the bridge that will extend its life.

"These works will be completed in the 2011/12 financial year.

"This bridge is well used, so it’s important it is maintained and these works are completed as soon as possible," continued Ms Sist.

For more information on the reduced speed limit, please contact Council on 1300 BCOAST (226 278).
