Training in Victoria nosediving after Daniel Andrews’ cuts
Losing confidence in Victoria’s training system.
Students have lost confidence in Victoria’s training system under Labor, as enrolments tank.
The latest data from the National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER), released today, shows government-funded VET student numbers have dropped 31.7 per cent under Daniel Andrews.
It’s a decline from 460,500 students in 2014, to 314,600 in 2017.
It follows a report from the Productivity Commission, released earlier this year, that revealed Labor underspent the student training budget in 2016 by a staggering $502 million.
Victoria has also missed out on millions of dollars from the Commonwealth to train more apprentices.
Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Training, Skills and Apprenticeships Steph Ryan
Daniel Andrews promised a training ‘rescue’, but he’s delivered a crisis.
On Labor’s watch Victoria has lost its crown as the nation’s largest training provider to NSW.
Daniel Andrews has cut the state’s training budget and Victoria is missing out on hundreds of millions of dollars for training from the Commonwealth because Labor just wants to play politics.
