The Merger To Hit The Traralgon Stage

The Merger, Damian Callinan’s sequel to Sportsman’s Night, is set to delight audiences on Monday 31 October at the Performing Arts Centre in Traralgon.

Latrobe City’s performing arts and venues coordinator, Kathleen Roberts, said that the show is both hilarious and poignant.

"The Merger is Callinan’s third Barry Award-nominated show. It will touch a nerve for audiences in rural and regional Australia as it addresses issues that are always bubbling under the surface of our societies – drought, unemployment, downsizing and, most importantly, change and tolerance.

"If you’re looking for a show to make you laugh and cry, this is it," Ms Roberts said.

The township of Bodgy Creek has seen better days. The mill is closed, the Tidy Town sign has fallen into the long grass and the weir is dry. Unable to field a full side, the local footy club will either have to fold or merge with arch rivals, the Hudson’s Flat Redbacks. But coach, Troy Carrington, has other ideas and turns to the Asylum Seekers Refuge Centre to recruit new blood.

The Merger will be performed at the Latrobe Performing Arts Centre in Traralgon on Monday 31 October from 8pm. Bar open from 7pm. To book contact the Box Office on 5176 3559.
