Floor Talk For ‘Passenger’ InstallationOn Tuesday 5 June the Latrobe Regional Gallery will host a floor talk for Susan Norrie’s ‘passenger’ installation. By Latrobe City - 24th May 2007 - Back to News Gallery Director, Jacqui Hemsley said that Jason Smith, Curator, Contemporary Art, National Gallery of Victoria, will give an insightful presentation about ‘passenger’ and how Norrie has used her role as an artist to investigate and document the truths and experiences of our time.
"Norrie’s exhibition ‘passenger’ comprises of five individual films that are screened in one enclosed space. Each looped film sequence interacts with the others to amplify the visual, filmic and conceptual potency of the work.
"Norrie routinely appropriates shot sequences from the works of other film makers, looping the edited pieces and bringing the resulting film into dialogue with paintings and sculptural objects in an installation format," Ms Hemsley explained.
"It’s a stunning, visual display which is both thought-provoking and challenging," Ms Hemsley added.
Tea and coffee will be served from 10.30 am and the floor talk commences at 11am. Admission is $5 for general public, $3 concession and Friends of the Gallery members are free.
‘Passenger’ is a National Gallery of Victoria Touring Loan through the Victorian Foundation for Living Australian Artists
