Latrobe Valley Eisteddfod This year is the 48th Latrobe Valley Eisteddfod and over the years it has grown until now there are over 1500 performers competing for scholarships and prizes totally over $26 000. By Jeni Whitwam - 19th May 2003 - Back to News Each year the Latrobe Valley Eisteddfod is held in Traralgon during six weeks through August and September, in the Latrobe City Performing Arts Centre which incorporates a small intimate theatre and a larger theatre hall. This year is the 48 th Latrobe Valley Eisteddfod and over the years it has grown until now there are over 1500 performers competing for scholarships and prizes totalling over $26 000. The competitors perform for positive criticism by an adjudicator who specializes in that discipline of performing arts and this can help them improve their performance. The Eisteddfod caters for all areas of the performing arts including Vocal and Choral, Speech and Drama, Country Music, Piano and Instrumental, Brass bands and Solos and Theatrical Dance. Performers in most sections can perform solo or in various combinations, and are grouped in age groups from junior ages to Open age groups. Schedules for the 48 Latrobe Valley Eisteddfod can be obtained from the Eisteddfod Office, Kath Teychenne Centre, Traralgon; by phone on (03) 5174 2335; by email on lve@latrobevalleyeisteddfod.org.au Closing date for entry into the Eisteddfod is 30 June 2003 The office will be manned through the middle of most weekdays during June for enquiries.
