Latrobe City’s garden competition growing with support from sponsors

Support for Latrobe City Council’s first ever garden competition is growing with new entries arriving and the announcement of sponsors and prizes.

Latrobe City Council’s mayor, Councillor Michael Rossiter, said it was good to see local business supporting the local community.

"We have been impressed with the number of community businesses willing to support this initiative. The competition is clearly striking a chord with the business community who, like Council, see the broader community benefits of this initiative. All competition categories now have a sponsor, and the major sponsor is Grow Master Traralgon. We would like to extend our deepest thanks to those who have already given so generously.

"There are still a number of runner-up categories open for sponsorship, so if your business might like to donate a prize we’d love to hear from you. We are also looking for people interested in being judges for the competition. Judging will take place between Monday 17 October and Friday 4 November. If you have a background in horticulture, garden and landscape design or similar, why not call on 1300 367 700 and speak to our friendly team," Cr Rossiter said.

"We know our community is very creative, thinks sustainably and enjoys the outdoors, so if you, your business, your school or community group want to enter, please collect a form from any of our service centres or apply online at www.latrobe.vic.gov.au/gardencomp.

"Entry is free and closes on Friday 14 October 2016. Winners will be awarded at an event in late November," Cr Rossiter concluded.
