The exhibition, ‘Woor-dungin nambur (sharing talk)’ is being held in the International Power Hazelwood Community Access Gallery at the Latrobe Regional Gallery. Gallery Director, Louise Tegart, said that the Latrobe City Council Oral History Project was developed in reaction to research on library collections in Gippsland. "The research indicated there was very little local indigenous information or stories published. The oral history concept was considered the most effective in recording stories," Ms Tegart explained. "Between 2002-2004 Ian Hamilton, a casual staff member of Latrobe City Library Service, was engaged to work with the local indigenous community to develop a collection of oral histories on CD. These recordings included discussions of Koorie community life as it is today and recollections of times past woven together with musical expression. "Indigenous art students at GippsTAFE listened to the recordings and produced their interpretations of the words and music presented, providing another dimension to the project that now encompasses music, stories and visual interpretations. "‘Woor-dungin nambur (sharing talk)’ is a fine example of community partnerships in action – the Gippsland Koorie community, Department of Victorian Communities, Latrobe City Libraries, GippsTAFE and Latrobe Regional Gallery," Ms Tegart added. ‘Woor-dungin nambur (sharing talk)’ continues until this The Latrobe Regional Gallery is located at
