Vacation care program offers fun activities for Wellington youngsters

From Tuesday 4 to Friday 21 January Wellington Shire Council will be running a host of fun activities aimed at local primary school-aged children, through its Wellington Leisure Vacation Care Program.

Organised by the council’s trained Leisure Services staff, activities will include arts and crafts, stadium games, movies, a Beanie Kids Day, pedal boats on Lake Guthridge, Seaspray ‘nippers’ beach activities, a visit to ‘The Fun Shed’ in Morwell and a Gippsland lakes boat cruise.

The program will operate on weekdays from 8am to 6pm and the price is $30 per child per day. Additional fees may apply to cover the cost of excursions.

Families eligible for Child Care Benefit through the Family Assistance Office may receive significant fee reductions.

Bookings can be made for individual days or for the whole period of the program.

Said Wellington’s Chief Executive Officer, Lyndon Webb: "This popular initiative, means that parents can continue working over the summer holiday break, safe in the knowledge that their children are having a fun time and being looked after by trained staff."
