Martin Cameron announces Claire Lindsay as Marsh/Tierney Scholar to trek Kokoda and honour Gippsland's legacy
Latrobe Youth Mayor Claire Lindsay has received the $6300 Marsh/Tierney Scholarship to trek the Kokoda Trail with MP Martin Cameron, supported by generous community and service club contributions.
The Nationals' Member for Morwell, Martin Cameron, has announced the recipient of his annual Marsh/Tierney Scholarship. Latrobe City Youth Mayor Claire Lindsay was awarded the scholarship, which is an opportunity for one lucky Year 11 student to join an Adventure Kokoda trip in the July school holidays.

The Marsh/Tierney Scholarship, worth $6300, provides our younger generation with an insight into the Gippsland connection to the Kokoda Trail, and the sacrifices made by service personnel from this area. Claire will join Mr Cameron and a contingent of Victorian Members of Parliament and other scholarship winners in tackling the Kokoda Trail next month.
"Trekking the Kokoda Trail is a life-changing experience, and I am so grateful that we are able to support incredible young people in our community with the necessary funding to participate. Claire has a fantastic attitude, which is half the battle when you're tackling the Kokoda Trail, so that will hold her in good stead.
"I wouldn't be able to offer this scholarship without the support and generosity of our local community. A huge thank you to the Argyle, Morwell, and Traralgon Masonic Lodges, together with the Freemasons Foundation, who made an extraordinary donation towards this year's scholarship. I would also like to thank the Morwell Bowls Club, Traralgon RSL, and the Lions Club of Churchill who made generous contributions," Mr Cameron said.
