Creativity in light

The exhibition space is a place of cultural expression and experimentation where artists present new work and test combinations of image and sound. It brings life to the streets of Wonthaggi and offers our community experiences of discovery and enjoyment, of beauty, awe, joy and wonder that challenge or transcend the everyday.

Bass Coast Mayor Cr Rochelle Halstead encouraged people, and especially artists, to visit LightBox Lane. "Next time you're in Wonthaggi make sure you have a look at Light Box Lane. It's a fantastic 24-hour exhibition space with so much potential for creative and diverse exhibitions. I encourage anyone who has an idea for an exhibition to check it out and submit an expression of interest," Cr Halstead said.

Art illuminated outdoors

Since its opening in July 2022, Light Box Lane has seen some wonderful and diverse outdoor exhibitions such as Dr Debbie Symons' 'Archive' showcasing the profound beauty and poignant silence of Australia's native wildlife, 'Drift' by Yu-Fang Chi featuring recycled fish-nets, colourful threads and handcraft textile techniques and the current exhibition 'Illuminating the Past: 100 Years of the Union Theatre Posters' which features posters from the golden age of film.

Expressions of Interest are currently open and close Sunday, 27 April 2025. Visit Bass Coast Shire Exhibition EOI: Light Box Lane website to find out more details and to apply. You can also contact our Arts and Culture team on 1300 BCOAST (226 278) or (03) 5671 2211 to have a chat about your ideas.
