Wellington Shire Stratford Library temporarily closing for renovations from 1 April until Friday 30 May 2025
Stratford Library will close from 1 April to 30 May 2025 for renovations. Click & Collect and children's programs will continue at Stratford Senior Citizens Club. Nearby libraries in Maffra and Sale remain open.
The Stratford Library will be temporarily closed for eight weeks from Tuesday 1 April until Friday 30 May 2025 while it undergoes renovations to improve the space for the community. Works will include painting, recarpeting, and new furnishings.

Stratford library services
To ensure library users can continue borrowing books and participating in programs, a Click & Collect service and regular children's programming will continue to run at nearby Stratford Senior Citizens Club located at 13 Dixon Street in Stratford during the below times:
Monday 7 April - Friday 18 April 2025 (School Holidays)
- Mondays: Click & Collect only, 4 - 6pm
- Wednesdays: Click & Collect only, 9.30 - 11.30am
- Fridays: Click & Collect only, 9.30 - 11.30am
Regular children's programming will not run during the school holidays.
Monday 21 April - Friday 30 May 2025
- Mondays: Click & Collect only, 4 - 6pm
- Wednesdays: Storytime (10 -10.30am), Click & Collect (10.30 -11.30am)
- Fridays: Rock, Rhythm & Rhyme (10 -10.30am), Click & Collect (10.30 -11.30am)
A library staff member will be on hand at the Senior Citizens Club to assist with all library needs. Library members can reserve books online via the Library Catalogue by visiting www.wellington.vic.gov.au/libraries or by downloading the Libraries Victoria app using their library card and PIN.
Stratford library upgrades
Once a book is available, members will receive a notification via email, SMS, or phone call once the book is ready for collection. Reserved books will be held at the Stratford Senior Citizens Club for collection during designated opening times only.
Wellington Shire Council Mayor, Cr Scott Rossetti, welcomed the refurbishment, saying the upgrades will provide long-term benefits for all library users. "The Stratford Library is a much-loved community space, and these improvements will enhance the experience for everyone. We appreciate the community's patience and are pleased to offer alternative services to keep people connected to books and programs during the closure," Mayor Rossetti said.
For those needing additional services such as computer access and printing, the nearest library branches in Maffra and Sale will remain open as usual.
