Engineering Learning Pathways introduced at the GEPGippsTAFE have redesigned the Diploma of Engineering to provide a pathway and articulation into the new Bachelor of Civil and Environmental Engineering offered by Monash University, Gippsland Campus By GippsTAFE - 11th December 2003 - Back to News GippsTAFE have redesigned the Diploma of Engineering to provide a pathway and articulation into the new Bachelor of Civil and Environmental Engineering offered by Monash University, Gippsland Campus, to be delivered at the Gippsland Education Precinct (GEP), of which GippsTAFE is a key partner.
"The diploma will be delivered at the GEP in 2004. Monash University is currently identifying credits from the Diploma into the new engineering degree," said Professor Sam Adeloju, Head, School of Applied Sciences and Engineering at Monash.
Andrew Kerr from GippsTAFE’s Engineering Department said that he will be at Monash University during Change of Preference Week, December 16 to 22.
"It will be a great opportunity for students to look at other options in engineering and to see what the Diploma of Engineering can offer them when it comes to gaining entry to engineering degrees at University."
"This kind of cross sectoral collaboration between the GEP partners shows that we are actively designing programs to create learning pathways from TAFE to Uni," said Helen Reeves, Pathways Officer at the GEP.
"Both GippsTAFE and Monash, Gippsland are excited by this early example of additional learning pathways, which shows that the GEP is responding to the needs of our community and engaging learners."
The nationally accredited Diploma of Engineering, offered by GippsTAFE, includes subjects such as Engineering Computations, Statistics, Calculus, Engineering Maths, Science, Applied Chemistry, Fluid Mechanics, Civil Materials Concrete and Soils, Geoscience, Geology, Statics, Surveying Computations.
The Bachelor of Civil and Environmental Engineering will be offered by Monash, Gippsland Campus for the first time in 2004. The degree will cover structural, water, geotechnical and transport engineering, complemented by relevant studies in environmental and management and technology.
