Noel Coward and Cole Porter’s witty words and musical gems sparkle with fresh interpretation in the very charming Cheek to Chic starring de-lovely Hilary Henshaw on at the Latrobe Performing Arts Centre in Traralgon on Wednesday 20 November from 11am. Latrobe City Council’s performing arts and venues coordinator, Kathleen Roberts, said that Hilary’s musical partnership and creative collaboration with the versatile Peter Hurley makes for a delightful show that explores the words and music of two musical theatre giants. "This original production combines Coward and Porter’s magnificent melodies, stylish scenarios and irreverent humour with intriguing insights into their parallel careers and colourful lives. "Timeless favourites, including I’ll See You Again, A Room With A View and, of course, Mrs Worthington from Noel and Let’s Do It, Wunderbar and Night and Day from Cole, as well as some lesser-known delightful surprises, are performed with panache, pizzazz and pathos. "Whether it is the Red Peppers belting out their music hall rendition of Has Anybody Seen Our Ship or the touching ballad Mad About The Boy, the very funny The Physician or Cole Porter’s Broadway classic Blow Gabriel Blow the show is filled with captivating musical twists and turns, comedic moments and heart wrenching songs. Noel and Cole’s unique genius is as irresistible to audiences today as it was when their work first delighted an adoring public from the 1920s onwards," Ms Roberts said. "Hilary Henshaw’s almost life-time professional career has involved performing with many of Australia’s major theatrical organisations including opera, operetta and musical theatre productions, as well as on television and in the recording studio. Peter Hurley’s varied career has included working with the ABC, State Orchestra of Victoria and performing his own show at the Melbourne Comedy Festival. "So, do yourself a musical favour and get along to see "Cheek to Chic" as Hilary and Peter serve up a treat!" Ms Roberts concluded.
