Basketry And Weaving Workshop At GalleryThe Latrobe Regional Gallery will be running a Basketry and Weaving Workshop for adults on Sunday 4 December, as part of its monthly adult workshop series. By Latrobe City Council - 24th November 2005 - Back to News Gallery Director, Louise Tegart said that by attendees at the workshop would learn how to identify suitable plant material for basketry and create their own natural fibre basket
"The workshop will be run by local tutor Pat Dale who has taught her style of basketry for many years. Pat has exhibited in major craft exhibitions and is the author of ‘Basketry and Weaving with Natural Materials’," Ms Tegart explained.
"Pat’s baskets incorporate natural plants and she utilises both conventional and unconventional techniques and styles. The workshop is suitable for beginners to learn basic basket making skills as well as experienced weavers. All materials are included in the cost of the workshop," Ms Tegart said.
"This is a fantastic opportunity to make some stunning objects for yourself or Christmas presents for loved ones," Ms Tegart concluded.
The workshop will be held on Sunday 4 December from 11am to 4pm and the cost is $44 for general public and $40 for Latrobe Regional Gallery Friends members. Bookings are essential and should be made by Friday 25 November, by calling the Gallery on 5128 5700.
