Australia Day Award Nominations Invited Now

Who do you think should get our Shire’s Citizen of the Year award next January? Don’t hesitate to collect a nomination form and let the councillors know who the diligent community workers are in your area.

By South Gippsland Shire Council - 3rd September 2004 - Back to News

Nominations are now being invited in the three categories of the South Gippsland Shire’s Australia Day awards. Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year and Community Event of the Year are there to suit outstanding contributions and the same nominations are eligible at community level if they don’t receive a shire award.

Plans are already under way within the shire to make the pre-Australia Day presentation ceremony a bigger and brighter event. Maybe it will be your nominee who takes centre stage at the announcements?

It’s not difficult to complete a nomination form, however, if you find it a little daunting, don’t hesitate to phone Lew Wilson, Council’s Recreation Development Officer on 5662 9259 for assistance. Volunteers also will be happy to work through the requirements with you and assist in compiling the nomination and appropriate support material.

Let’s all celebrate Australia Day together and put that special applause into the mid-January awards announcement ceremony!

Start now to consider whoyou would like to nominate. Individuals can complete the nominations, or you can do it on behalf of a community group - the main thing is to show your outstanding community volunteer that you recognise their contributions and salute them through the nomination.
