Storm Damage Forces Road ClosureRecent storm damage has now forced the closure of Ambyne Road at Sandy Creek, off McKillops Road near Tubbut. By East Gippsland Shire Council - 8th February 2006 - Back to News East Gippsland Shire’s Orbost area supervisor Garry Watts said that the storm had washed a large concrete culvert from under the road and created a dangerous situation at the location.
"A huge amount of soil has been washed away leaving dangerous hole of about three metres depth," he said.
Mr Watts said it would take two to three weeks before the road was re-opened.
"A large new concrete culvert needs to be constructed at the site after extensive excavation works have taken place."
"In the meantime detour signs have been posted to keep motorists away from what is a particularly dangerous site."
