Ultimate Frisbee State Championships Coming to Traralgon
Victorian Mixed Ultimate Championships in Latrobe Valley on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th of September.
The Victorian Mixed Ultimate Championships will be coming to the Latrobe Valley on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th of September.
The Victorian Mixed Ultimate Championships is Victoria’s premier Mixed Ultimate Frisbee tournament, with the top teams qualifying for the Australian Mixed Ultimate Championships later in the year.
The two-day event will occur at the Traralgon West Sporting Complex with an expected 250 players from 16 clubs around Victoria. Both days will feature non-stop Ultimate action with multiple games running throughout the day from 9.00am – 4.00pm across eight fields to be set up at the complex. The grand final match, showcasing some of the best Ultimate players in the state, is expected to kick off from 2.30pm on the Sunday which you will not want to miss.
Tournament Director Simon Talbot from Ultimate Victoria, State Sport Association for Ultimate Frisbee, said that Ultimate Victoria is excited to bring the event back to the Latrobe Valley region in 2020.
"The support we received from Latrobe City Council and local businesses at the 2019 event made the decision to return in 2020 a very easy one. This will be our first event since the lifting of COVID-19 restrictions on sporting competition so we have a lot of players eager to return to the Latrobe Valley."
"We encourage everyone to come along throughout the weekend to the Traralgon West Sporting Complex to view what Ultimate Frisbee has to offer as a sporting opportunity and the amazing culture it has."
Latrobe City Council‘s mayor, Councillor Dan Clancey, said it was a great testament to the Latrobe City community that the championships would return to the region.
"We love our sports here, we love the excitement of the competition and the agility of the athletes - tournaments of this scale are an inspiration to our young athletes.
"Importantly, they also bring with them the potential for a mini economic and tourist boom. We are an all-rounder destination with great facilities, accommodation options, tourist links and a vibrant café and retail culture. We are delighted that Ultimate Victoria has once again chosen Latrobe City to be the host," Cr Clancey said.
Ultimate Victoria would like to thank the Latrobe City Council for their tremendous support with hosting the event in Traralgon on the 5th and 6th of September and look forward to a fantastic display of Ultimate Frisbee over the weekend.
