Council resolves to sell five properties for unpaid rates.

By South Gippsland Shire Council - 30th September 2004 - Back to News

At the Council meeting on 15th September, Council resolved to authorise its collection agency Credit Collect to proceed with the sale of five properties to retrieve outstanding rates’ debts. In addition, interest and costs will be recovered on behalf of Council.

"The owners of these properties have ignored all requests for payment, including formal collection processes by Council’s collection agency," commented the Chief Executive, Mr Joseph Cullen. "These are debts that have been outstanding for several years and it is not fair to other ratepayers who make the effort to pay their rates on time."

This resolution sends a clear message from Council that all avenues will be pursued fully to ensure payment of rates.
