Austrlia Day Celebrations Across The Shire

Australia Day will be celebrated at breakfasts across the East Gippsland Shire on Wednesday, 26 January.

Paynesville will host the presentation of the East Gippsland Shire Council’s annual Australia Day Awards with a community breakfast that will begin at 8.00 am.

Hosted by the Paynesville Business and Tourism Association, it will be attended by Australia Day Ambassador, popular Dan Romanis, together with Mayor, Cr Jane Rowe.

The Australian flag will be raised at 9.00 am at the breakfast that will be held in Main Rd, Paynesville (near the wooden memorial sculpture) followed by the presentation of the Australia Day Awards.

Other community breakfasts will be held at:

Lakes Entrance: 7.30 am at foreshore near Rotunda, flag raising at 10.45 am then award presentation. Entertainment by RSL Highland Pipe Band.

Orbost: Forest Park, 7.30 am start, community Games 8.30 am, flag raising 9.00 am.

Lindenow: Amy Shand Park, 7.30 am start, 9.00 am flag raising and address, 10. 00 am award presentation.

Bairnsdale: Rotunda, Main St, 7.15 am start, 7.45 flag raising and anthem, 7.50 am address by Lions ‘Youth of The Year,’ 8.10 am awards presentation.

Omeo: Main St near Courthouse, 7.00 am flag raising, 7.15 am breakfast with entertainment until 9.30 am.

Bruthen: Football Club Ground; 7.00 am, start. 9.00 am flag raising and address, 10.00 am awards presentation.
