Healthy communities support

Ms Bath said VicHealth's grant assists locals build better social connections with each other and their community. "These grants are essential in helping people at the grassroots level access physical activity as well as healthy and affordable food."

"They provide an excellent opportunity for our locals to engage in beneficial activity to improve their physical and mental wellbeing. As a regional MP, I understand the critical role VicHealth has in facilitating healthier communities in country Victoria where opportunities are often not as plentiful," said Ms Bath.

Last year, the Growing Healthy Communities delivered funding to 84 community organisations in Victoria. This latest funding round aims to support young people from diverse and underrepresented backgrounds, including those in regional communities, with a focus on addressing systemic barriers to participation and wellbeing.

Grassroots funding boost

Funding is available in two tiers:

  • Tier 1: $10,000 - $50,000
  • Tier 2: $50,001 - $150,000

Sporting, community, cultural, recreational, creative, some local government and other not-for-profit organisations are eligible to apply. Full eligibility can be found at VicHealth website.

"Our grassroots organisations are the heart and soul of our regional communities, and they often run on shoestring budgets which can restrict access for some. By removing barriers and encouraging all individuals to lead healthy, active and connected lifestyles we can assist all Victorians regardless of their background or postcode," said Ms Bath.
