Hilarious storyteller to visit WellingtonStoryteller Graham Davey had people in stitches and rolling in the aisles the last time he visited Wellington Shire. By Wellington Shire Council - 29th July 2005 - Back to News Well, hang onto your funny bone – Graham is returning to Wellington on 11 August, when he will be working with four pre-booked school groups. There will be two pre-booked sessions at Sale Library with Longford and Araluen Primary Schools and two in Maffra with St Mary’s Maffra and Briagolong Primary School.
Graham will also be performing a free Yarn Telling session at the Avon Hotel in Stratford at 7pm.
After a number of years of professional theatre and teaching in the U.K., Graham's work with "story" has taken him to all parts of Australia, where he performed his highly acclaimed repertoire.
Mayor Peter Gault said: "We welcome Graham Davey back to Wellington – I’m sure a lot of people are going to be extremely happy to see him again.
"Storytelling is such an art and Graham’s performances are peppered with humor, magic, thrills and pathos - every session is a work-out for the imagination."
Cr Gault said it was a timely visit given that Graham is the president of the Victorian Branch of the Children’s Book Council of Australia and Childrens Book Week will be held from August 20-26.
The Children's Book Council of Australia is a not-for-profit organisation. It was established in 1945 to promote children's literature and to encourage children to read. It is a national organisation with a branch in every state and territory.
Indeed, 2005 is a special year for children’s reading as it marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of CBCA nationally and 200th anniversary of the birthday of Hans Christian Andersen.
