Baw Baw Shire has again been represented at the world-renowned Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show held last week in Carlton.

By Baw Baw Shire Council - 18th April 2006 - Back to News

This year’s display featured a myriad of Gippsland artworks under the banner of Creative Gippsland.

"It was a pleasure to be part of such a successful exhibit, that was so well received by the public" Karen Whitaker - Taylor, Cultural Development Officer with the Baw Baw Shire Council said, "The support we got from the local arts community and local companies was fantastic.

"Many thousands of visitors were able to discover the creative talents of Gippsland artisans and were eager to know more," said Ms Whitaker-Taylor. To help visitors learn about Gippsland’s many galleries and artists, a new brochure was produced for the show called Creative Gippsland – A guide to Arts, Culture and Heritage.

Baw Baw artists featured include Laurie Collins’s metalwork from Jindivick and three bollards from the Linear Park Arts Discovery Trail in Warragul, which created great interest. A new brochure mapping out the Linear Park Arts Discovery walking trail, that will eventually feature fifty artistic bollards, has also now been completed and is available for interested residents and visitors.

Contact Karen Whitaker - Taylor at the Baw Baw Shire Council on 56 242407 to obtain a copy of the new brochures "Creative Gippsland" or "Arts Discovery – Warragul Linear Park Trail" or for any further information.
