Re-Elected Coalition Will Support Families And Kids

The Nationals candidate for Morwell Russell Northe has welcomed today’s announcement that a re-elected Victorian Coalition Government will boost the financial and welfare support available to local parents and their children.

By Russell North - 19th November 2014 - Back to News

"A re-elected Coalition Government will provide a $100 rebate on kindergarten fees for every Victorian child attending kindergarten in the year before school," Mr Northe said.

"The Liberal-Nationals Coalition understands that family budgets are impacted when children begin kindergarten and we want to help to minimise that with the Fairer Kinder program.

"The $100 rebate will provide welcome financial relief for about 200,000 Victorian families.

"Kindergarten is a crucial time in a child’s learning and the Coalition Government already provides substantial funding to kindergartens, so Victorian kids can have access to 15 hours of kinder each week, and today’s commitment will build on that."

Mr Northe said a re-elected Coalition Government would also increase the number of Primary Welfare Officers in Victoria so they cover all state primary schools.

"The Coalition has already provided 150 welfare officers who are playing a really important role in helping schools to provide support to their students in the areas of behaviour, mental health and welfare issues," Mr Northe said.

"The Liberal-Nationals Coalition wants to ensure every state primary school can access this vital resource if re-elected.

"These initiatives are part of a Supporting Families package that will build a better future for families in the Morwell electorate."
