Further job losses with the relocation of Johnson Health Tech

Another blow to Latrobe Valley today with Johnson Health Tech’s (JHT) Head office in Morwell announcing they will be closing their doors and relocating to Dandenong.

Mr Northe said it’s my understanding that there could be approximately 25 local job losses emanating from this decision.

"This is a difficult time for the Latrobe Valley and our thoughts go out to all staff affected and their families," Mr Northe said.

"Johnson Health Tech’s Morwell site is home to sales, marketing, administration, technical services and dispatch teams that service Australia and New Zealand.

"JHT specialises in fitness equipment for the evolving fitness market offering high quality and innovative products," he said.

"This announcement comes on top of the closure of a number of other local businesses in recent weeks and months."

Mr Northe said unemployment in Latrobe had unfortunately skyrocketed by nearly 50% since Labor came to office in November 2014.

"Daniel Andrews said he would fight for every job, however these are hollow words for Latrobe Valley workers who are continually joining the unemployment queue."
